In the Mini Maestros program, children will explore all aspects of music. From singing and dancing, to melody and rhythm, your child's imagination and creativity will be engaged as they discover this fascinating world.

The fall session begins Thursday, September 30, and meets for eight weeks at Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Drive, Zion, Illinois in the Lloyd Chapel.
If your child attends Circle Center Preschool, we ask that you bring a snack and drink for your child to enjoy prior to the class.

MOMMY AND ME
This music class bring the joy of music and movement into the lives of children 18 months through 3 years of age. It encourages the development of pitch, rhythm and listening skills. Parent and child are engaged in a 30-minute class of playing rhythm instruments, singing, finger plays, dancing, chanting and stories.

MUSIC 'N MORE
During this 45-minute class, 3 - 5 year olds will use their imaginations to create movements and interact with the music. They will develop listening skills during rhythm and song activities. The children will also be given opportunities to perform for their peers within the class. The children will be introduced to a variety of musical instruments and exposed to basic music terminology.

MUSIC MAKERS
This 45-minute class for 5 and 6 year olds will stress music making, both by performance and creation. The children will be playing multiple instruments including, but not limited to: drums, shakers and bells. The children will also be introduced to the keyboard and basic note reading. Each class will include instrumental and vocal activities, rhythm/note reading games and opportunities to perform for each other.

Instructors:
Jo Huber received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music with a concentration in Voice from Trinity College (now Trinity University) in Deerfield, Illinois. She has been a vocal instructor in the Zion and Waukegan areas, teaching voice at the Zion-Benton Township High School, the Waukegan Park District at the Jack Benny Center for the Arts, and at the Zion Conservatory of Music. She has served as a church choir director in Waukegan and Libertyville. Ms. Huber first worked with preschoolers at the Circle Center Preschool at Christ Community Church. She taught Kindermusik from 1995 to 2000 and was certified in the Beginnings, Growings and Young Child curriculula, as well as taught preschool music classes at the Jack Benny Center for the Arts.
Krysta Hyllberg received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Ripon College, completing her student teaching in an international school in the Czech Republic. She has extensive experience working with preschool age children as well as older students and currently teaches preschool for the Gurnee Park District. She has taught band at the elementary level and private lessons on all instruments to children ages 4-18 years old. Ms. Hyllberg began her musical training on the piano at the age of seven and later studied trumpet, viola and clarinet. She has been involved with other ensembles including the Waukegan Municipal Band, the Waukegan Symphony Orchestra, Full Score Chamber Orchestra, Lake Forest College Chamber Orchestra, and both the Concert Band and Wind Ensemble at the College of Lake County.
