The Zion Conservatory of Music:
Our Philosophy
The Zion Conservatory of Music is a ministry of Christ Community Church designed to reflect a vision of
enriching the wider body of Christ through God-glorifying music. Music is a deepy spiritual act of worship that celebrates our
Creator and inspires us to reach towards him. As we study music, we harness our minds, bodies and emotions in order to
explore the rich world of sound. Music has the potential to mature our minds and our souls.
Therefore, the Conservatory is committed to the development of the whole person through the study of music. We
believe that a good musical education will affect intellectual maturity and build character. Physical coordination, technical skill,
expression, discipline, a teachable attitude and spiritual sensitivity are among the skills that we strive to develop. Our Christian
world-view compels us to see the potential for growth in all students, whether they desire to become serious musicians or just
want to learn for their own enjoyment. Our teachers are selected for their commitment to keeping these principles. They are
encouraged to nurture and inspire students through their own abilities.
The Conservatory also encourages parental involvement at every level. Teachers cannot produce musicians on
30 minutes of lessons per week alone. Consistent and intelligent practice is very important for a student to succeed. Regular
exposure to music of their instrument through concerts and recordings is essential. Performance opportunities outside of the
Conservatory should also be pursued. Learning an instrument requires diligence, motivation and patience. Parents can provide
the loving support a child needs to stick with the learning process. Our experience proves that the results will be well worth it.
